Thank you to our incredible partners Glasgow Warriors for coming to the hospital for a special gaming visit! 🎮Warriors first-team stars Rory Darge, Stafford McDowall, Ollie Smith and George Horne helped children and young people in hospital enjoy their favourite games to the fullest by being their Player Two for titles like FIFA and Mario Kart. The visit supported our Games for the Weans campaign, which will fund a bespoke Gaming Service in the children's hospital, with the help of our gaming volunteers. 🤝Staff at your organisation could be like the Warriors by becoming a gaming volunteer - apply: https://lnkd.in/eKvyPKGG

"What matters to you?"- A question we ask all of the young patients in the children's hospital, to help us know what's most important to them during their stay. Here are some of this year's patients letting us know what matters to them!Noori- "I like playing video games with Matt (O'Riley), Pringles for breakfast, and I like it when my family visit"Aria-"The bubble machine, Peppa Pig, my family and the park"Thank you to Jones Whyte for providing volunteers to help at the stall this morning. If you would like to enquire about your business sending volunteers to help with fundraising events and activities, please get in touch by emailing William.McGowan@glasgowchildrenshospitalcharity.org And as ever, we are so pleased to be working with the incredible NHS heroes for What Matters to You Day. These activities are a way to start important conversations between staff and children, to help make sure they are doing all they can to make patients feel as well cared for as possible. 💜

A discovery has emerged from recent research funded by Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. Megan Clapperton, affectionately known as the “Tonsil Fairy” for her research into tonsils, has identified a previously unknown protein that is likely to play a role in cases of recurrent tonsillitis. Megan shared, “This work shows the potential to use the protein as a biomarker for tonsillitis – i.e. a way to tell if a patient has tonsillitis or not. It also provides a new insight into the reaction tonsils have when bacteria try to invade.” Read more about this, and Megan’s other discoveries at: https://lnkd.in/eruHYS2S
