The Good
* Rare Sunset Orange factory paint job with no fading or sun spots I could find
* TWO sets of wheels, including the original factory wheels in great shape
* THREE sets of tires including studded snow tires and brand-new Hankook Dynapro HT tires
* Fresh oil change, coolant flush, A/C charge, and front differential flush 7/19/24
* Power On Command (POD) trailer braking system (factory rated towing capacity of 8400 lbs!)
* Cold AC with no leaks
* Ridiculously clean (and surprisingly plush) factory carpet
* Thick rubber floor mats all around, each with the Chevy bow tie emblem
* Power driver and passenger seats, cruise control, and heated exterior mirrors (great glass)
* Exterior "pool" lights on mirrors to light ground on entry/exit
* Lighted driver/passenger vanity mirrors with slide dimmers to adjust to any brightness
* Factory tonneau cover looks nice and tight, comes out easily
* Pickup bed looks fantastic with no real gouges or scrapes that I could see (shag rug protecting it)
* Factory storage compartments on bed sides look great - if not a bit dusty from storage
* All dash lights, interior lights, and gauges work perfectly
* Seats look basically brand new with no rips, tears or notable stains I could find
* Dash has no cracking, splits, or scrapes I could see - the whole interior looks just great
* Rain guards on each side window look to be in great shape and fully attached
* Factory(?) tinting on the back side and rear windows looks scratch-free
* Factory 17" wheels are bright with no noticeable curb rash (handicap-eligible parking helped)
* Battery was replaced in July of 2023
* Vin check (VINCheck.info) shows no history of accidents, thefts, or open recalls
* Includes two sets of keys, one key fob, and original glove box keys
* Has factory owners manual including the business card of the original salesperson from 2001
* Includes hitch and ball
The Bad (a pretty short list)
* Crack in right front fascia and fog light - light works fine (very cheap to replace both)
* Paint crack (dent?) in middle of tail gate where something bumped it - almost circular
* Short rust line over left rear wheel - patch panels readily available online
* One cross brace on roof looks a little sun-faded where you can't see it (works fine)
* Some light dings and nicks, with a couple of small (paint unbroken) dimples
* Gouge on right rear plastic molding (cheap to replace, also available from Chevrolet)
* Surface rust on frame from many years of indoor storage in rural Missouri
* Factory wheels seem to have some white plastic(?) goo by wheel weights and parts of the surface
* Studded snow tires and tires on factory wheels look great, but are definitely older tires (rode great)
The Ugly
My neighbor pulled the ABS fuse years ago as he said it sometimes chattered on the front right wheel when braking from the highway to his unpaved driveway. I noticed a slight hum from the front that could have been the tires (still had the studded snow tires on it), but changed pitch on acceleration. My mechanic said that the front differential had watery fluid in it (since flushed and changed) and it could have something going on with it that causes the ABS to think one wheel is going faster than the other. No specific diagnosis, but if I keep it for myself I will probably repair/replace the differential.
Now, I bought this beauty as soon as I saw it out of my neighbor's storage about two weeks ago - I didn't even know he had it. Got the new tires put on, fluids changed, and AC charged up. Never changed or assigned the title, so it still shows as one owner on everything - it just moved across the street. We already have an old Ford F-150, so the wife would rather not have another truck - even though this one is SO much nicer than our Ford. That said, if it doesn't sell I will keep it for myself and worry about the wife later. It really does run great and needs minimal attention to make it practically showroom condition. Another Avalanche owner told me that if I drove it to Whiteman AFB I'd probably get $20K for it in a day (it's that nice), but I don't have the time.
